A roses circle of life: Breaking at the cracks

Posted December 26th, 2009 by Emily Rose

Rose hips cracking open to release seeds, remind me of life turning points, and cycles in lives. From one bloom, comes fading, cracking, then many more plants, and more blooms. So with this cycle through a lifespan, the beauty of life multiplies, and continues, past the loss, breaking down, and devastation. When life throws those times that feel like it’s breaking down I remember the blooms. I remember after the fading, the cracking, the breaking down, they come back, and they come back more healthy, and plentiful than they did before.

“I’m breaking at the cracks
And everything goes black
It’s another heart attack
And I can’t handle that

I know that I’ll get through this
The feeling is stronger somehow
I got my feet back on the ground
And I’m turning around
And I’ll be everything you always said that I could be
If only you’ll be waiting right here for me patiently”

From Colbie Caillat’s song ‘Breakin’ At The Cracks’ lyrics. A very beautiful song, by one of my favorite musicians.
