I keep asking myself “Why did you decide to go back to school again?” Insanity I say. I have a term paper due on tuesday, that has me all frazzled, because no matter how hard I try, I can’t get my mind on the ACTUAL concept of the paper, and off the legal/solid concept of the paper. I’ve done the word file version of crumpling paper so many times on this paper, with only 3 more days to go. Oh man, I’m screwed ;) Note to self- “don’t decide to be an anthropologist when you grow up” (Though I will admit, and anthropologist married to an engineer WOULD be funny, in a sick and twisted humor sort of way) No, I’m not considering this, it’s just a joke ;)

Anyways, before I ramble on anymore about school, and term papers, and how nuts this is making me right now, I’m going to post PUPPIES! Just a few more weeks, and the term is over… just a few more weeks!

To my horror, Dea really likes Siberians. I think it’s a curse by her Aunty Amy, who brought her a stuffed Siberian in the hospital the day after she was born, and proclaimed Dea would always have a junior dog to show from Amy. I can’t ever see living with a Sibe, I love them, but can’t see living with an independant dog. I love dogs that worship, and adore me! Dea loves visiting the puppies at Kelly’s, but thinks it’s some cruel, sick joke that we visit, play, but she’s not allowed to take any home. She keeps asking me “Mommy, next time we go see the puppies, can we bring one home”. Oh boy, we’re creating a monster! Shamfully, she’s not as interested in Cardigans, to my horror. Must work on this!

We’re mean, and Dea pulled Sparkles ladybug cap from my purse

It’s MUCH easier to put on Sparkles, as Dea and this puppy demonstrates!

omg too funny, poor Dea. ;) while I can say Royal absolutely adores me, and is one of the softest dogs I know, and truly lives for approval from me (and Brock lol), he is just not into doing behaviors. it seems that he just doesnt GET IT. he gets very stressed and confused and frustrated after training sessions longer than a few mins. he has always been that way. I would absolutely not use the word stubborn or hard-headed or anything like that to describe him, I think its just not in his nature to perform.

I go back and forth about whether or not he is maybe just “not that smart” but I dont think thats it. I mean I definitely think certain breeds are better at certain mental skills. Brock for example has an uncanny ability for generalization, and memory- we can work a behavior 1 time, and no matter how much time passes before the next time we work on it, he never forgets. and furthermore, will pick up with it at the same level of proficiency we left off at. this is definitely not typical of dogs as a species. but I just think Royal is a primitive dog, and has primitive motivations. his mind just works differently! and frankly, I love that. he digs, he howls, he stalks, he buries, he hunts and kills with the same predatory sequence of a wolf. he is pure dog. :)

I can totally understand what youre saying. :) and its good to recognize there are some breeds just not for some people. there are many breeds I love & can appreciate but would *never* want to live with. I mean there are hundreds of varieties of dogs for a reason! that said, I absolutely adore the primitive dog personality, and will always live with that type. but I also am a training addict and am frankly fascinated by the pure intelligence of herding breeds, and therefore will also always have a herding dog as well. :)

Tsar is my first experience with Sibes and believe me they are a challenge. He was a horrid puppy , but has turned into a wonderful adult. Still we do battle over everything. Independent thinker is an understatement. If you want a huge cat, then think Sibe.
